SD Sourdough beginnings
Our Story
SD Sourdough began as a simple family project through the 4-H Junior Entrepreneur program now. What started as our kids selling homemade sourdough at the Carbon County Fair and local farmers markets quickly grew into a passion we wanted to share with more of our community.
We’re a small, family-run micro bakery in Price, Utah, baking out of our home with care, patience, and a whole lot of love. Sourdough became part of our daily rhythm—feeding the starter, milling fresh wheat, shaping dough, and creating loaves that feel warm, nostalgic, and nourishing.
As our little bakery has grown, our mission has stayed the same:
Create high-quality, naturally leavened bread using honest ingredients and traditional methods.
Our Ingredients & Process
We believe good bread should be simple, whole, and made with intention. That’s why we:
- Mill our own wheat for better flavor and nutrition
- Use high-quality oils and whole ingredients
- Keep every recipe simple and clean
- Rely on our well-loved wild-yeast starter, maintained daily
- Use a long fermentation process that makes our bread easier to digest and naturally flavorful
- Bake in small batches so every loaf gets hands-on attention
Our sourdough loaves are soft, fluffy, and rich in natural flavor—just the way homemade bread should be.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my bread stay fresh?
Your sourdough will stay fresh for 3–4 days at room temperature. Store it in a bread bag or wrapped in a clean kitchen towel for best results.
Can I freeze the bread?
Yes! Freeze in a freezer-safe bag. When ready to enjoy, reheat in the oven at 350°F for 15–20 minutes for a fresh-from-the-oven taste.
What makes your sourdough easier to digest?
Our long fermentation breaks down the wheat naturally, making the bread easier on the stomach while enhancing flavor and texture.
Do you mill your own wheat?
Yes—freshly milled wheat gives our bread exceptional flavor, softness, and nutrient density.
What ingredients do you use?
We keep our ingredient list short, whole, and honest. Freshly milled wheat, high-quality oils, sea salt, water, and our wild-yeast starter. Nothing artificial or unnecessary.
Is your sourdough starter homemade?
It is! Our starter is cared for daily and has been with us from the very beginning. It’s the heart of our bakery.
